About Us – Kuwentong Pedicab

ABOUT US

Kuwentong Pedicab is a multimedia storytelling and advocacy project created by AB-MMA students from De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde. Through documentary videos, research-based stories, photographs, a pedicab guide, an interactive map of documented pedicab locations, and a downloadable information brochure, the project explores the lived realities, challenges, and contributions of pedicab drivers in the City of Manila.

By bringing these elements together, the project aims to humanize pedicab drivers, give visibility to their everyday experiences, and recognize their important yet often overlooked role in urban mobility and community life.

WHY WE CREATED THIS PROJECT

Why We Created This Project

In many urban communities in the City of Manila, pedicab drivers play a vital role in everyday transportation. However, their stories, struggles, and contributions often remain unseen or underrepresented in mainstream narratives about mobility and urban development.

This project was created to document their lived experiences, preserve their cultural presence, and encourage greater public awareness of their role in community-based transportation systems.

OUR PROCESS

How the Project Was Developed

The project began by listening to and documenting the experiences of pedicab drivers in the City of Manila. Through interviews, surveys, observation, photography, and field research, we gathered stories and insights about their daily lives, working conditions, challenges, and contributions to their communities.

These findings were then developed into documentary stories, photographs, informational content, a rider's guide, an interactive map of documented pedicab locations, and a downloadable brochure. The website brings these materials together to give greater visibility to the experiences of pedicab drivers while helping visitors understand the people, places, and communities connected to every ride.

ETHICS & PRIVACY

Ethics and Privacy

Kuwentong Pedicab is committed to respecting the dignity, privacy, and rights of every participant involved in this project. Interviews, photographs, and multimedia materials were collected with informed consent, ensuring that participants understood the purpose of the documentation and how their stories would be presented.

Personal information is handled responsibly, and sensitive details are only shared with permission. This project aims to represent pedicab drivers truthfully while protecting their identities whenever requested.
