About Us – Kuwentong Pedicab

ABOUT US

Kuwentong Pedicab is a multimedia storytelling and advocacy project created by AB-MMA students from De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde. Through documentary video, audio storytelling, photography, and spatial mapping, the project explores the lived realities of pedicab drivers in Metro Manila.

By combining research and narrative storytelling, it aims to humanize pedicab drivers and highlight their essential yet often overlooked role in urban mobility and community life.

WHY WE CREATED THIS PROJECT

Why We Created This Project

In many urban communities in Metro Manila, pedicab drivers play a vital role in everyday transportation. However, their stories, struggles, and contributions often remain unseen or underrepresented in mainstream narratives about mobility and urban development.

This project was created to document their lived experiences, preserve their cultural presence, and encourage greater public awareness of their role in community-based transportation systems.

OUR PROCESS

How the Project Was Developed

The project was developed through field interviews, observational research, multimedia documentation, and spatial mapping. Pedicab drivers were interviewed to gather personal narratives, while selected routes and locations were documented to contextualize their daily working environments.

The collected materials were then integrated into a multimedia platform consisting of documentary video, audio storytelling, and an interactive website.

Interviews, photographs, and multimedia materials were collected with informed consent, ensuring that participants understood the purpose of the documentation and how their stories would be presented.

Personal information is handled responsibly, and sensitive details are only shared with permission. This project aims to represent pedicab drivers truthfully while protecting their identities whenever requested.
